About
The fellowship combines a structured didactic program with a comprehensive clinical experience. The goal is to provide in-depth, advanced, and structured training to APPs to become proficient clinicians, educators, and leaders in clinical and academic psychiatry. The training is based on a core curriculum of clinical assignments, seminars, and individual supervision. Fellows learn psychopharmacologic and psychotherapeutic treatments for disorders throughout the life cycle. The didactic curriculum complements the hands-on experience and is designed to help fellows acquire a comprehensive knowledge of psychiatry. The program is part of the University of Missouri School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry where APP fellows are supervised, supported, mentored, and taught by dedicated faculty physicians and experienced psychiatric APPs. As part of an academic medical center, APP fellows are given the unique opportunity to train in an academic medical center dedicated to offering continuing medical education and compassionate care. The fellowship closely mirrors a psychiatric physician residency program and fellows will have the unique opportunity to work and train along with psychiatric resident physicians and an APP fellow cohort. Upon graduation, APP fellows will have the training, experience, and confidence to provide a wide range of psychiatric services in almost any clinical setting.
